Abu Dhabi unveils $100bn plan to raise manufacturing profile
Abu Dhabi has launched an initiative to boost the ‘Made in Abu Dhabi’ brand internationally, increasing the profile of products made in the emirate.
The $100 billion marketing push aims to put 3,340 products produced in the country from almost 900 factories in the shop window.
The Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (ADDED) has said the ‘Made in Abu Dhabi’ brand will be added to all industrial licenses issued to factories and manufacturing companies located in the emirate.
The owners of all industrial facilities registered in the emirate have been issued with guidelines on the use of the official Made in Abu Dhabi designation. ADDED said this would ensure that the brand used is “appropriate, clear and noticeable” on the product.
Rashid Abdulkarim Al Blooshi, Undersecretary of the Department, said that the Made in Abu Dhabi campaign aims to encourage the owners of industrial facilities to place the campaign’s approved sign on their products. He also said that the campaign is expected to attract more local investors and encouraging entrepreneurship in Abu Dhabi.
