Abu Dhabi: 60% of government workers return to the office
At least 60% of government employees are to return to their offices after a new directive was approved by the Abu Dhabi Emergency, Crisis and Disasters Committee. The directive, effective from May 30 2021, applies to all staff and outsourced workers.
Remote working is still permitted for employees aged over 60, pregnant women, people with chronic disease or weak immunity, and parents of children in distance learning programmes.
Staff returning to the workplace will be compulsory tested for Covid-19, with the cost of the test to be borne by the individual (except those with a vaccination exemption certificate). Unvaccinated employees must test weekly, while those who have had the vaccination must test monthly.
